Here’s this week’s Worship Setlist, part of Fred’s Sunday Setlist Carnival.

OPENER – Crazy Jam w/ Ridiculous Guitar Solo
WELCOME
“No One Like You” – Crowder
“Hosanna” – Hillsong United/Starfield
“Consuming Fire” – Hillsong United
TEACHING
“Enough” – Tomlin
“Your Grace Is Enough” – Tomlin

Well, this was week two of me being “kinda-sorta” sick and having a sketchy voice, but I think people are digging the Dylan sound… We started the gathering off with an original jam number with the electrics just letting it rip… One of my guys came out of left field swinging with an “over the head” finger tapping solo… one of those “holy crap is this really church or what?” moments.

After the welcome we kicked into “No One Like You” which always seems to engage everyone in a big mess of happiness… From there we hit “Hosanna” which was intensely powerful.  We’ve been doing a mix of the Hillsong & Starfield versions of “Hosanna” and it’s been one of those songs that we just can’t sing enough.  We usually bridge “Hosanna” into “Consuming Fire”, as we did today, seamlessly as if they were written together.  “Consuming Fire” was the highlight of this morning’s set with everyone singing “Stir it up in our hearts, a passion for your name” from our hearts and at the top of our lungs.

As we continued “The Big Give” series, the teaching this morning was on the physical body.  We’ve been given our physical bodies by God, so what are we doing with the bodies we have been given?  More often than not, the church teaches on the importance of the soul and how as long as we care for the soul, the physical body doesn’t matter much.  The problem is that we are called to honor God with our bodies, as living sacrifices, because we were bought at a price.  We are not our own.  So the food (or amounts of food) we eat matters.  Exercise matters.  Sexual lifestyle matters.  We honor God with our bodies, and as we do we are choosing Him over all other little gods.  He is better than all the world has to offer, and He is everything we need.

To drive the big idea home, we ended with a couple older, familiar songs.  “Enough” was a great way for us to declare as one big family the truth that God is more than enough for all our needs.  He is our satisfaction and our joy.  We brought the music back up for “Your Grace Is Enough” as we declared once more that He is all we need and that His love and grace covers us.  What a day!
